My Everyday Makeup Bag
So as I'm cleaning out my makeup bag this afternoon, I had two thoughts - 1: My full makeup collection is excessive - I did work in cosmetics for many years so #justified and 2: I love knowing what products other people use and love which led me to this very post. So here it is, a comprehensive list of the products I use/alternate between every day and therefor cannot live without.
Before I go into whats what though, I should mention that my everyday routine (for which I use the below products) is pretty simple, very natural and completely do-able in 5-10 minutes tops.
After cleansing & moisturising, I always start with a primer and depending on my mood I switch between a few. Foundation is next and I like mine super light, barely there and just enough to even out my skin tone but still sheer enough for my freckles to come through. Concealer goes on the eye lids and under eye so needs to have good coverage without looking cakey. I have 2 shades: One for summer tanned skin and one for winter white skin. I always set my base with a sheer powder & then use bronzer/highlighter to add some dimension and then always a little cheek colour on the apples. What: M.A.C Strobe cream Why: It's the ultimate primer for truly luminous skin with serious sheen.
What: Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Why: This has a beautiful golden glow and I sometimes mix it into my foundation.
What: Mecca Cosmetica Illuminating primer Why: I use this when I want a subtle lit within look.
What: M.A.C Face & Body Foundation Why: The most natural-looking foundation I've ever used. Sheer but buildable.
What: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Why: For when I need something with more coverage and staying power.
What: M.A.C Prep & Prime BB Beauty cream Why: I wear this in Summer when my skin's got some colour.
What: NARS Radiant creamy concealer Why: It's the perfect texture and has good coverage without looking cakey.
What: M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Why: A great sheer powder that sets foundation without leaving a powdery finish.
What: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Why: It's a bronzer highlighter duo in the most perfect bronze shade.
What: Chanel Les Beiges Why: I use this in place of my bronzer when I want an all-over warm glow.
What: Benefit Coralista Why: Golden coral cheek colour that suits literally everyone.
What: M.A.C Style Why: This shimmering golden orange colour is one of my all time fav cheek colours.
What: M.A.C Buff Why: Matte nude cheek colour for when I want something more neutral or I'm not wearing bronzer.
Unless I'm heading out or have an event, I keep my eyes pretty simple, and tend to stick with neutrals. I usually wash a nude colour over the eye lid and will sometimes use a shimmery brown, coral or nude pink if I feel like my eyes are looking a little dull. I tend to skip eyeliner for work (unless I've got extra time) and go straight to mascara. A little colour & definition to the brows and I'm done.
What: Urban Decay Naked palette Why: It has all the neutral colours you could ever need in one handy palette.
What: M.A.C Brulé Why: I like to use a matte finish base colour on my eyes before anything else.
What: M.A.C Hey Why: It's the perfect pinky, nude, beige shimmery colour.
What: M.A.C Satin Taupe Why: This is the most wearable shade that can be worn sheer or built up to a strong smokey eye.
What: Chanel Inimitable mascara Why: Lengthening and most importantly separating, this is my favourite mascara.
What: M.A.C Feline pencil Why: This is hands down the smoothest and blackest black pencil you will find.
What: M.A.C Fluidline in Blacktrack Why: Gel like texture makes this soo easy to apply with an flat angle brush.
What: Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil Why: The waxy texture blends perfectly into the brow.
What: Benefit Gimme Brow Why: This will tame any stray brow hairs and the tint of colour adds subtle definition.
Try as I might, maintaining my lipstick all day erryday, never happens - anyone who says they do, is lying. But, when I do attempt it I've got a few go-to colours and products.
What: M.A.C Myth Why: Nude pink perfection in a lipstick. Think JLo.
What: NARS Dolce Vita Why: Great everyday red that never looks too much.
What: Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect Why: Finally, a brown-pink colour that is actually flattering and not too pale.
What: Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink Why: Pink based neutral that's perfect for a daywear nude lip.
What: M.A.C Patent Polish in Revved Up Why: My fav coral nude lip colour with a shiny finish.
What: Hailey Baldwin Modelco Gloss in Beige Why: I don't wear much gloss these days but this is the best nude colour for when you don't want to wear lipstick.
What: M.A.C Lip Pencil in In Sync Why: For those rare times I want to make my lip colour even more pink.
What: Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in Bare Why: This is the perfect nude base for most of my lip colours.
What: M.A.C Pro Longwear pencil in Etcetera Why: For when I want that matte 90's look, I apply this allover as a lip colour.
What: YSL Rouge Pur Couture 01 Why: The ultimate red red, this is a must-have colour
